2025–26 Benefits, Costs, and Effective Dates for Undergraduate & Law Students
All degree-seeking and visiting undergraduate and law students are required to carry medical
insurance coverage comparable to that offered through the school’s Student Health Insurance
Plan. Unless specifically waived with proof of coverage with another plan, students will
automatically be covered under the Student Health Insurance Plan, and the premiums charged
to their student account with the school for the fall and spring semesters (summer coverage is
included with spring semester coverage). This requirement also applies to students participating in Lewis & Clark Overseas and Off-Campus Programs, both international and domestic.
Any student who wishes to waive coverage MUST complete a waiver annually providing
proof of current insurance coverage. Students have just one opportunity at the start of each academic year to complete their online waiver and decline coverage for the academic year. Coverage may be waived online at
Waive.PacificSource.com/LEWI before the waiver deadline of September 16, 2025. Your
request for waiver will be audited to ensure the coverage in place meets the schools
minimum coverage requirements.
Undergraduate and law students with an approved waiver will not be enrolled in or charged for student health insurance for that academic year (waivers must be completed and approved annually).
*Please note that Oregon and Washington Medicaid participants generally qualify to waive enrollment in the student health insurance program, but Medicaid participants from other states usually do NOT qualify to waive student health insurance. For individuals with Medicaid outside of Oregon or Washington, please click here for more information.

Lewis & Clark does NOT enforce a health insurance requirement for students in the Graduate School for Education and Counseling (GSEC), though GSEC students are strongly encouraged to have health insurance. GSEC students may voluntarily enroll in the student health insurance program.
2025-26 Benefits, Costs, and Effective Dates for Graduate Students
There are two exceptions to the student health insurance requirements for undergraduate and law students:
1) Visiting students from Hoksuei Gakuen, Waseda, SACM, the Embassy of Kuwait, Rikkyo, or Konkuk will have health insurance coverage through their sponsoring organization so they will not be enrolled in the student health insurance. They do not need to complete a waiver.
2) Law students enrolled in the distance-learning LLM and MSL programs are the sole exception to this requirement. These students are not required to have health insurance, and are not allowed to enroll in the student health insurance program.
If you are an undergraduate or law student and are NOT enrolled in student health insurance, but have recently lost health insurance coverage, and wish to enroll in the student health insurance program, please contact Student Health Insurance by emailing stuhealthinsurance@lclark.edu or calling 503-768-7160.
If you are a GSEC student and are NOT enrolled in student health insurance, but have recently lost health insurance coverage, and you are thinking you might want to enroll in the student health insurance program, please contact PacificSource directly. Benefits, costs, and effective dates for the GSEC health insurance plan is available here.
